Colin has nearly four years’ experience in traffic engineering and transport planning. Colin has experience in completing traffic impact assessments, integrated transport assessments, traffic engineering design, road safety audits, development of designs from concept through to detailed design, undertaking vehicle tracking of light to heavy vehicles using AutoCAD.

 While working in Christchurch (2015 to 2017), Colin was involved with the following projects:

  • Major Cycleway Routes Christchurch (Christchurch City Council) – Colin was a member of Team Velos, whom were one of the two teams in charge of designing the 13 Major Cycleway Routes in Christchurch. He assisted with the development of the Uni-Cycle , Rapanui to Shagrock and Heathcote Expressway Cycle Routes which included stakeholder management, route selection, scheme design, multi-criteria analysis workshops, detailed design and construction observations.
  • Redevelopment of Schools (Ministry of Education) – As part of the redevelopment of schools in Christchurch due to the February 2011 Earthquake, Colin provided civil and traffic engineering advice from the master planning stage through to construction. The development of the schools required communication with key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Education, Christchurch City Council (CCC), the NZ Transport Agency, Fire and Emergency New Zealand and St John New Zealand. 
  • Metro Sports Facility (Ngai Tahu Limited) – Metro Sports Facility is noted to be the largest aquatic and indoor recreation and leisure venue in New Zealand. Colin was part of the multidisciplinary team and his main focus included providing traffic engineering design advice for the development of the facility on the surrounding road network. He assisted in the design of the on-site carpark (500 spaces) and the consideration of providing multi modal access (pedestrians, cyclists, public transport and private vehicles) access to the site during an international event.
