  • Oranga, which is anticipated to have around 1,000 new homes, replacing 335 existing state houses
  • Mangere, which is anticipated to provide 10,000 new homes

HLC’s vision incorporates creating great places to live, adding to the urban environment in a socially, economical and environmentally sustainable way.  We have been members of HLC’s project teams, inputting to the master planning and identifying if areas are currently able to support the additional residents from a transport point of view, and what transport measures are needed to support the growing communities.  We consider existing transport provisions, peoples’ private car use,  what public transport services are available, accessibility to public transport services, proximity and access to local schools, shops, community facilities and play areas.  We identify measures to address safety concerns, walking and cycling connections, improved accessibility and road/intersection capacity and suggest changes to bus routings and frequencies. We have undertaken integrated transport assessments and traffic modelling for the above precinct and neighbourhood areas and prepared concepts for street layouts and intersections.  Our ongoing involvement includes liaising with Auckland Transport, Auckland Council, and work associated with the progressive development of these and other areas, including advising on and supporting resource consents, engineering works approvals and resolutions.
