Bus stop and shelters upgrade – Auckland Transport

In 2022, the Local Boards in Auckland identified a number of bus stops to be upgraded with bus shelters.

Flow successfully tendered and won a package of works for 20 bus stops in the Howick, Kaipatiki, Manurewa, Ōrākei and Papakura Local Board areas.

We carried out site investigations, consulted internal departments within Auckland Transport and sent out public consultation letters as part of the bus stop upgrades. The design included bus stop relocation, new pedestrian refuge islands, new pram crossings and aspects associated with bus stop infrastructure. We prepared the Traffic and Parking Changes Report as part of this which were approved through the Auckland Transport bylaw process.

The key challenge on these bus stop projects is the consideration of accessible routes, road safety, as well as creating a cohesive design that’s consistent across all public transport infrastructure in Auckland.
