Gerhard started his professional engineering career in 2013 at Techworld Consulting Engineers (traffic engineering consultancy) in South Africa. He was mainly responsible for managing projects, supporting project teams, liaison with clients and stakeholders, and site inspections. He worked on various projects which included master planning, traffic impact assessments, traffic modelling, intersection and network capacity analysis, and conceptual intersection designs.
Gerhard moved to New Zealand in 2019 and joined Stantec’s Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering team in Auckland.
Since moving to New Zealand, Gerhard has worked on and managed a number of transportation assessment, design and intersection modelling projects ranging from large industrial developments to residential and retail projects.
Gerhard has a good understanding of design standards, an appreciation of road safety best practices to achieve Vision Zero goal and, through his involvement in private sector projects, a good knowledge of the Auckland Unitary Plan and planning standards of other district councils.
I am excited to start the next chapter at Flow as a Principal Transportation Engineer expanding my knowledge in both the private and public sectors, with a focus to become a transportation expert witness in the planning field. I can’t wait to help “shape tomorrow’s transport choices”!
