Russell is a Senior Transportation Engineer at Flow and has been working in the transport planning and traffic engineering industry since 2012. His work has involved many different types of traffic and transportation projects for a variety of clients covering private concerns, local authorities and central government agencies.
Russell has worked on regional and local transportation projects that require strategic thinking and complex engineering solutions. His experience includes transport assessments for a wide range of land uses such as residential, mixed use, hospital/healthcare, and retirement villages. He also has experience in undertaking safety audits, and design.
He has prepared concept and scheme designs for roading improvements (such as safety or walking and cycling improvements) and regularly helps developers achieve safe and efficient transport designs for their sites.
Among his experience is assisting Kāinga Ora with master planning for the Auckland Housing Programme. Russell has prepared Integrated Traffic Assessments for the Northcote, Roskill South, Oranga, and Waikōwhai neighbourhoods, working closely with Kāinga Ora and Auckland Transport to ensure the best outcomes for these areas, and Auckland as a whole. As these neighbourhoods are being developed, Russell was also involved in the design of the transport networks, and the residential developments proposed.
"With the company’s focus on reducing private vehicle trips and promoting alternative modes, I see Flow helping change Auckland and other cities in New Zealand for the better."
